INGOs' funds not fully utilized in Jaffna district

Less than fifty percent of the funds allocated by the international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) for the implementation of several welfare projects in Jaffna district was spent last year, civil sources in Jaffna said.

Last year international aid agencies such as UNICEF, UNHCR, UNDP, GTZ, USAID and other organizations allocated more than 720 million rupees for the implementation of humanitarian projects in the peninsula, sources said.

However only Rs.351.97 million which is only 48.8 percent of the total fund, was spent till December 31, 2003, sources said.
