"The Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) in past abrogated pacts with Tamils because they were merely written on piece of paper. The current MoU was signed with the backing of our military strength. Sri Lanka Government knows the consequences of violating this agreement," said Mr.S.Elilan, Trincomalee district political head of the LTTE addressing an event held Monday in Trincomalee to honour parents of LTTE martyrs of Trincomalee division as a part of Heroes Day celebrations.
At the commencement of event Mr.Gunam, LTTE Trincomalee north division military head hoisted the Thamileelam nation flag and Mr.Mathivannan, head of the Trincomalee District LTTE Martyrs Unit lit the common flame of sacrifice. Ms Kaaronja, LTTE Trincomalee district women political head presided.
Mr.Elilan further said the GOSL is still not prepared to talk with the LTTE on the Interim Self Government Authority (ISGA) proposals. But the government leaders are making comments on the ISGA through media and public meetings. It is increasingly becoming clear that we cannot expect a just and fair resolution to the ethnic conflict from this Government, Mr.Elilan said. Mr.V.Vigneswaran also spoke.
