Voting decision rests with Tamil people- Ilamparithi

Mr.C.Ilampartithi, Jaffna district political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) said Friday that his organization has not taken any decision regarding the forthcoming presidential poll. "LTTE will not exert any pressure on Tamils on this issue," said Mr.Ilamparithi answering a question at a press briefing held in Jaffna district political office, which is, now located in LTTE controlled Pallai area.
"The decision to boycott or to vote at the presidential election has been left in the hands of Tamil people. Many Tamils may decide to boycott the presidential poll taking into consideration the past traitorous activities of Sri Lankan politicians in the south. We will not interfere in their decision. However we will be vigilant during the election period," said Mr.Ilamparithi. Mr.Ilamparithi recalled the statement by LTTE political head Mr.S.P.Thamilchelvan that the decision taken by Tamil people will be the final one. Mr.Thamilchelvan statement still stands, Mr.Ilamparithi said. Mr.Ilamparithi, Jaffna district political head of the LTTE Friday at a media briefing that according to reports received that unexploded grenades had been recovered in some instances creating serious doubts that SLA soldiers were behind such incidents, sources said.
