Pandemonium reigned in Sri Lanka's Parliament Friday morning when Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians ran into the well of the House and protested against killing of Mr.V.Vigneswaran, President of Trincomalee District Tamil Peoples Forum on Thursday morning in Trincomalee town, sources said.
The Parliament resumed its Friday morning to debate the motion of extending the State of Emergency. On receipt of information that Mr.Vigneswaran had been shot dead in Trincomalee by unidentified person in front of the Trincomalee branch of the Bank of Ceylon, TNA parliamentarians rushed to the well of the house and started shouting against the killing, sources said. The Speaker Mr.W.M.J.Lokkubandara summoned the leaders of political parties represented in the parliament for a meeting as he could not conduct the business of the house due to disturbances caused by TNA parliamentarian's protest.
