Muttur east Tamils pay homage to Vigneswaran

The remains of the slain President of the Trincomalee District Tamil Peoples Forum TDTPF) Mr.V.Vigneswaran was taken on Sunday morning to Liberation Tigers held Muttur east by road with the escort of International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM). The Sri Lanka Police provided the security up to and from Kaddaiparichchan Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp located on the border separating the LTTE area.
People of Muttur east received the remains of Late Vigneswaran at Navalady junction and took it to Ganeshapuram Central College with military guard of honor by LTTE. Mr.P. Ratnasingham, President of Trincomalee District Resurgence Forum presided over the condolence meeting.
Mr.S.Elilan, LTTE Trincomalee district political head lit the common flame of sacrifice. Wife of Mr.Vigneswaran lit the flame of sacrifice and garlanded the remains of her husband.
Colonel Sornam, LTTE Trincomalee district special commander honored the departed Tamil activist by covering his body with Tamileelam National Flag and garlanding it.
Mr.S.Elilan, LTTE Trincomalee district political head, parliamentarians Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham (Trincomalee district) and Mr.M.K.Sivajilingam (Jaffna district) Ms Kanmany Amma Ratnavadivel, President of the Trincomalee District Tamil Women Forum, Mr.Geethan, Head of the Lt.Colonel Rajan Political Affairs Institute and Mr.Kanagasabai Thevakadachcham, Founder Director of the Trincomalee District Affected Students Organization eulogized the services late Mr.Vigneswaran rendered to the promotion of Tamil nationalism and organizing mass agitation in safeguarding the rights of Tamil people in Trincomalee district.
Mr.Elilan said the Tamil nation has lost several Tamil activists during the peace period. It has been proved beyond any doubt that lives of Tamils could be saved only by war.
Mr.Elilan condemned the killing of Mr.Vigneswaran in the high security zone in Trincomalee and described it as the most brutal crime committed by the State armed forces during the time of peace.
Mr.Elilan said the death of Mr.Vigneswaran had created a void in the Trincomalee district Tamil politics and especially in taking forward the Tamil nationalism struggle on the whole. It is an irreparable loss to the Tamil nation, he added.
The remains of late Mr.Vigneswaran were taken to Vavuniya around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon from Muttur east, sources said.
