Vigneswaran burial held in Anpuvallipuram

The remains of slain Mr.V.Vigneswaran, President of Trincomalee District Tamil People's Forum (TDTPF) were buried in the cemetery in Anpuvallipuram, a suburb about 2 km. off Trincomalee, Tuesday evening, after being kept in
the Trincomalee Town Hall for members of public to pay last respects from morning to noon and thereafter till 3 p.m. in Anpuvallipuram Kalaimagal Vidiyalayam. Large number of people attended the funeral. Mr.Vigneswaran was shot dead on Friday morning inside the Bank of Ceylon premises located in
the high security zone in Trincomalee town by an unidentified armed men.
The casket was brought to Trincomalee town Tuesday early morning around 3 a.m. from Killinochchi after being kept for public viewing in Muttur east, Killinochchi and Puthukudiruppu in Vanni region from Sunday onward. TNA parliamentarians Messrs K.Thurairartnasingham, M.K.Sivajilingam, S.Jyanandamoorthy, N.Raviraj and Mavai Senathirajah participated.  In Town Hall

Attorney-at-law Mr.A.Jegasothy presided over the condolence meeting held later in the Town Hall, which was addressed by Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians and leading Tamil activists. The condolence message sent by Mr.R.Sampanthan, leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentary group and Trincomalee district parliamentarian from abroad
was read out to the audience by Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, fellow district parliamentarian. Mr.Sampanthan in his message has stated that the death of Mr.Vigneswaran was an irreparable loss to the Tamil nation and Tamil nationalism. Mr.Vigneswaran had been shot dead in the high security zone of Trincomalee inside his working place shattering the hopes of Tamil speaking people who have been urging for a political solution to the Tamil national question meeting their legitimate political aspirations through peaceful negotiations, Mr.Mr.Sampanthan further said in the statement.
