Three civilians abducted in Mannar

Unidentified persons abducted three Tamil civilians in Mannar Tuesday afternoon in two separate incidents along Mannar-Talaimannar main road, according to complaints lodged with the regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) by the relatives.
The abductees have been identified as Louis Moraes Satkunanathan, 59, retired Grama Sevaka Officer and father of three children, Anestine Kathirkumar, 31, and Christie Balendran Croos, 29. Unidentified men abducted Satkunanathan of Sinnakadai in Mannar town with his motorbike when he was going to supervise a construction work he had undertaken in Talaimannar. Meanwhile, Kathirkumar and Croos were abducted by unknown men when they were returning home in a motorbike after buying provisions in Mannar bazaar. These two youths are residents of Pesalai, and both are fishermen. Complaints have also been made to the Mannar branch of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM), International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and Mannar Police Station, civil society sources in Mannar said.
