The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), marxist, extreme Sinhala nationalist party, said Minister Tissa Vitarane who advocates devolution of power contrary to the provisions in the "Mahinda Chinthanaya" should be removed from the cabinet first if Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapakse is sincere in preserving law and order, media sources in Colombo said.
Tilvin Silva, General Secretary of the JVP said his party condemns the removal of Mangala Samaraweera and Sripathi Sooriyarachchi from the cabinet. Mr. Rajapakse should have removed Tissa Vitarane first from the cabinet to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of the country, Mr Silva said. Tissa Vitarane, head of the All Parties Representatives Conference (APRC) has been openly advocating a political solution based on maximum devolution of power. This completely violates the Mahinda Chinthanaya, Tilvin Silva said.
