Five Tamil fishermen missing in Mannar Sea

Five Tamil fishermen who went for fishing from Vidathaltivu in Mannar district on February have been reported missing, according to complaints lodged with the Mannar regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) and Mannar Centre for Co-Existence by their relatives Friday morning, fisheries sources in Mannar said.
Two of the missing fishermen are residents of Vidathaltivu and the other three are displaced from Pooneryn and residing in Vidathaltivu. The fishermen left in their fiberglass boats on Friday, 23 February, morning for fishing in Mannar Sea. Fishermen leave in the morning return on the same day evening with their catch. But the five fishermen have failed to return to the shore even after seven days, relatives said in their complaints.
