Fuel rationed in Mannaar

Ration system is to be introduced to sell fuel to all vehicles in the Sri Lanka Army controlled territory in Mannaar district with effect from Monday. Vehicles registered with the divisional secretariat offices in Musali, Mannaar and Naanaaddaan, with registered authorisation are eligible to buy fuel needed for a week.

Shortage for fuel prevails in the government held territory in Mannaar district following restriction imposed by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) on transporting fuel from Anuradhapura.

The SLA imposed the restriction alleging that fuel is being illegally transported to LTTE held territory in Mannaar district.

The fishing, paddy and subsidiary cultivation, private sector transport services are being affected without enough fuel.
