Kumaratunge to visit New York

Ms Chandrika Kumaratunge, former President of Sri Lanka, is scheduled to leave for New York Tuesday morning at the invitation of Bill Clinton Foundation. Her US visit coincides with President Mahinda Rajapakse trip to New York. Ms Chandrika Kumaratunge held the Executive Presidency post from 1994 till 2005, for two terms.

The 28th death anniversary of late Mr.S.W.R.D.Bandaranaike, founder of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and her father, falls on Tuesday, and she will be missing her father's death anniversary event to be held at Horagolla in Attanagalle electorate on Tuesday.

She is expected to return Colombo on September 30, sources said.
