New police check posts erected in Akkaraippattu

Akkaraippattu police erected additional check posts on the four main streets in their area Wednesday in order to prevent criminal activities which are on the increase since the announcement of presidential election. The police check posts in Chainthamaruthu in Ampaa’rai district, however, have been removed on request made to Minister Athavulla by the central committee of National Muslim Congress party, sources in Akkaraippattu said.

The new check posts have been erected on Saakaam Street, near Aalayadiveampu Divisional Secretariat, near Adda’laichcheanai Divisional Secretariat and on Poththuvil Main Street.

Residents of the area express their dissatisfaction on the erection of additional police check posts which hamper their daily activities.
