Hakeem urges Muslims to support peace process

"We should give no room for the accusation that the Muslim sabotaged the peace talks. We should not let this opportune moment for peace be scuttled," said Mr.Rauff Hakeem the leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and a Minister in the United National Front (UNF) government, addressing a seminar Sunday at Trincomalee Zahira Maha Vidiyalyam.

The Trincomalee branch of the SLMC organized the seminar on "Peace process and Northeast Muslims" at Trincomalee Zahira Maha Vidiyalyam Sunday. Mr Rauff Hakeem further said that, " there are forces that want to disrupt the peace process. We should give them no excuse to pass the blame on the Muslims." "The time has come for the Muslims of the South to help their northeastern brethren realise their political aspirations," added Mr.Rauff Hakeem. Parliamentarians Mr.K.M.Thowfeek Mr.M.S.Thowfeek and Mr.M.H.M.Harris of SLMC and Mr.M.A.M.Maharoof of UNF also addressed the seminar.
