Death anniversary of Lt. Col Santhosham observed

The fifteenth death anniversary of Lt.Colonel Santhosham, one of the senior commanders of the Liberation Tigers who was killed on 21st October, 1987 at Kondavil in Jaffna in a battle with the Indian army, was observed at Santhosapuram at Sampoor in Muttur east area and Trincomalee town Monday.

Santhosapuram village in Sampoor in the LTTE held Muttur east was named after Lt.Col Santhosham. A housing scheme is being constructed at Santhosapuram with the assistance of the National Housing development Authority.

At Santhosapuram Sivasakthi Vidiyalayam, the LTTE Trincomalee district political head Mr. Tilak hoisted the Thamileelam national flag. Mr. Rajesh, LTTE Trincomalee town political head lit the flame of sacrifice.

"LT Col Santhosham was responsible for the formation of capital brigade of the LTTE in Trincomalee," said Ms Kaaronja, LTTE Trincomalee district student wing leader addressing a gathering at the Trincomalee town office of the LTTE Monday in remembrance of the Lt.Col Santhosham.

At the commencement Mr.Uthayapalan who is in charge of Trincomalee town LTTE office lit the flame of sacrifice. Mr.Viduthalai, an activist of the LTTE hoisted the Thamileelam national flag. Mr.S.Kumaragurparan, a social activist in Trincomalee district lit the flame of sacrifice to the portrait of Lt. .Col. Santhosham. Ms Kaaronja offered flowers.

Ms Kaaronja said that the present peaceful environment has dawned in the country because of the sacrifice by our cadres. "We are very firm and have a clear understanding of the importance of the peace process. The dreams of thousands of our cadres will be realized when we find a peaceful resolution to the conflict," said Ms Kaaronja.

Ms Yalisai, an LTTE activist presided.
