LTTE promotes Advanced Level education in Amparai

Based on the directive of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam’s senior commander for Batticaloa-Amparai, Col. V. Karuna, an education center to teach Tamil students at the Advanced level and improve their chances of admission to Universities has been opened at the Karaithivu central college in Amparai, sources said.
Teachers are offering after-school classes in Science, Mathematics, Commerce and Arts. All students in Karaithivu can join for studies the center. Fifty teachers have been selected from all schools in the district and a committee of seven teachers will supervise the classes in the evenings.
At a meeting held recently at the Karaithivu Central College, several local heads of the LTTE’s education division, including Mr. Ekanthan, the Batti-Amparai district education head, deputy head Mr. Kesavan, Akkaraippatu Zonal head, Mr. Shankar, and Sammanthurai zonal head, Mr. Robin, participated.
The Deputy director of education for the Kalmunai zone, Mrs.V. Thayaseelan, Asst. Director of Education, Mrs. V. Anandarajah, Principal of the College, Mr. S. Jeyakumar, members of the school development committee and the graduates union also attended the meeting.
The education plan is to be expanded to other areas of the Amparai district. According to Mr. Ekanthan, the next center will be opened at the Carmel Fathima College in Kalmunai.
