Gunmen storm Deputy Minister's office, kill two

Gunmen Saturday afternoon attacked the political office of Mr.Sripathy Sooriyarachchi, a Deputy Minister in the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) in Kelaniya in the western province and killed two persons. One of them is said to be a bodyguard of Mr.Sripathy Sooriyarachchi and the other a supporter. Another supporter sustained injuries, police said.

Mr. Sooriyarachchi was at that time leaving his office, party sources said.

When the Police rushed to the scene gunmen fled from the area in a vehicle, wounding a woman pedestrian, police said.

Police Headquarters have alerted the police in Peliyagoda, and Kiribathgoda to apprehend the culprits, police said.
