SLA foray into Vadamaradchi East

The Sri Lankan Army launched a limited operation yesterday in the Vadamaradchi East region in the Jaffna peninsula. The operation was continuing this morning said sources in Jaffna. The SLA cordoned off and searched the villages of Chempiyanpattu and Thanipanaioor yesterday.

The operation was continuing this morning said sources in Jaffna. The SLA cordoned off and searched the villages of Chempiyanpattu and Thanipanaioor yesterday. A youth identified as Kanagasabai Kalyanakumar, 28, was arrested by the SLA during the search operation. The troops blindfolded the youth, tied his hands and then assaulted him severely, said sources. The youth's house was searched by the SLA later. Kalyanakumar is currently being held at the Thaalaiyadi SLA camp. The 18 km. long coast of Vadamaradchi East and its interior are not controlled by the SLA.
