Tamil youth shot in Trincomalee

Mr.Varothaiyan, a Tamil youth was seriously injured when an unidentified person shot him Monday around 7.30 p.m.when he was in his three wheeler at Thakkia Lane junction close to Trincomalee St. Joseph's College, police said.

Varothaiyan was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Trincomalee general hospital with gunshot injuries to his chest. He underwent emergency surgery, medical sources said.

No other details are yet available.

Trincomalee Police immediately is conducting investigations into the incident, sources said.
