Woman dies after labour[TamilNet, Monday, 20 July 1998, 23:59 GMT]A woman who was being taken to hospital with labour pain was stopped on the way by Sri Lankan Army personnel manning a check post in Aanaikottai in Jaffna and was forced to give birth at a house close to the check post, said sources in Jaffna. The woman latter died as she did not receive the necessary medical care, the sources added. The woman, Sivasuthan Mary Antorina, 18, was stopped by the SLA at the Chavatkaadu check post at around 10 p.m on Saturday and gave birth to a baby girl at around 1.30 a.m. yesterday.
