Fishmonger shot dead

A fishermonger was shot dead by unidentified gun men in Savatkadu area in Valikamam sector of the Jaffna peninsula, around 11:30 a.m., Monday, police said.

The victim was identified as Selvarasa Ithayarasa, 28, father of 5 children.

The gunmen ridding a motorbike fired at Selvarasa who was cycling from market to his home.

He died on the spot, sources said.

Mallaham Magistrate who visited the scene ordered the police to hand over the body to the relatives after inquest.
