Ambassador Robert O Blake, US envoy in Sri Lanka, Thursday met with Mr.Somawanse Amerasinghe, leader of the Sinhala nationalist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and discussed on the current security and political situation in Sri Lanka. The discussion was held at the US embassy in Colombo, media sources said.

JVP sources said the JVP leader had used this opportunity to convey the forthright stand of his party to the US envoy.

JVP leadership has been saying that a solution to the national crisis should be found within Sri Lanka and without the interference and pressure of foreign forces. The JVP is firm that devolution should be limited within the framework of unitary form of constitution, currently in force, sources said.
