16 arrested in Matale following Dambulla explosion

Sixteen persons, majority of them Tamils, were taken into custody by the Sri Lanka government security forces in a cordon and search operation conducted at Matale and Naula area from Saturday evening till Sunday morning following the bus explosion at Dambulla Saturday morning.

The search operation was carried out to apprehend two strangers who boarded the ill-fated bus between Matale and Naula on its way from Kandy to Anuradhapura, Matale police said. The driver and the cleaner of the ill-fated bus in their statements to police said two persons who boarded the bus at Matale had disembarked at Naula.
