Lion Air plane overshoots Colombo runway[TamilNet, Wednesday, 12 November 1997, 23:59 GMT]A Lion Air flight with forty four people from Jaffna on board ran off the run way last evening. The Lion Air is a private airline on contract with the Ministry of defence to transport civilians to and from Jaffna. Yesterdayís flight left Palaly around 4.30 p.m. and arrived at the Ratmalana SLAF base near Colombo around 5.30 p.m. The pilot lost control while landing the aircraft on the tarmac.
