Batticaloa police say bomb found in market[TamilNet, Friday, 12 December 1997, 23:59 GMT]A bomb fixed into a bicycle was found near the Batticaloa market by the lagoon on Lady Manning Drive this morning and was exploded by a Sri Lankan army bomb disposal squad. The explosion was heard three miles away in Puthur said residents. The Police and army point the finger at the Liberation Tigers for the bombs. But the Voice of Tigers on Wednesday blamed Sri Lankan security forces for the market bomb which went off on Tuesday. The three TULF MPs for Batticaloa cast a shadow of doubt on the claims of the Police who accuse the LTTE of the bombs in a protest fax they sent to the President on Tuesday.
