A Sri Lankan Naval gunboat was sunk in a sea battle between the Sea Tigers and the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) off the coast of Mullaithivu in the north-east of the island, security sources said.

The sources said 7 sailors of the Israeli-built Dvora gun boat have been reported missing. 12 sailors have been rescued from the boat, the sources added. The LIberation Tigers have not commented on the incident.
