Bomb blast in Colombo

Three people, including a police man were killed and at least 20 others were wounded in a bomb blast in Colombo, around 2.30 p.m. Monday, police sources said. The incident occurred at Narahenpita, a suburb of capital.

The police sources said a youth who was cycling along 'Chithra' lane triggered the blast when he was stopped by a police man at a check point.

The police man and the youth were killed on the spot. A civilian who was seriously injured in the blast died at a hospital.

Police and army personnel have cordoned off the area and conductiong a search operation, residents said.
