Sinhala doctors complete northern tour[TamilNet, Wednesday, 07 January 1998, 23:59 GMT]Sinhala doctors from southern Sri Lanka who have completed their six month stint at the hospitals in the peninsula are to be transferred to the south, said sources in Jaffna, yesterday. Letters notifying the transfers have already been sent from the Health Department. It is believed that other doctors will be appointed to fill vacancies in these hospitals. However, Health Ministry sources said that eight doctors are to be sent to the Jaffna shortly. Doctors from southern Sri Lanka have been reluctant in the past to serve in the north.
