Indian trawlers again poaching in northern seas[TamilNet, Wednesday, 02 July 2003, 18:58 GMT]Vadamarachchi fishermen in the Jaffna district Wednesday complained to fisheries officials that Indian trawlers once again have started poaching in the northern territorial waters of Sri Lanka, civil sources said. Tamil fishermen complained to the Vadamarachchi Fisheries Co-operative Society that poaching Indian trawlers, sources said, had destroyed their fishing gear and catch on Tuesday night. They appealed to the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to stop the poaching and to help them to do their profession without any interruption, sources said Meanwhile, Pesalai fishermen in the Mannar district have also complained of poaching by Indian trawlers, sources said
