Joint Mechanism a must for NorthEast reconstruction- Hindu Congress

The All Ceylon Hindu Congress (ACHC) in its New Year message said that the proposed Joint Mechanism is a must for the effective implementation of a relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction programme in the tsunami +destroyed coastal areas in the northeast province. It further expressed confidence that all efforts taken in regard to the establishment of a Joint Mechanism would prove fruitful with the dawn of the Tamil New Year " Paarthipa".

Tamil people are undergoing untold hardships for the several decades in the country to achieve their legitimate aspirations. A just and fair political solution should be found to fulfil the legitimate aspirations of Tamil people, ACHC's message said.

"We have a duty to render help and assistance to several thousands Tamil people who have been affected and displaced due to the two decade old war and the last year tsunami. We vow to continue our humanitarian assistance in this regard in the New Year and also in the Golden Jubilee year of the ACHC," the New Year message said.

ACHC appealed to fellow Hindus in Sri Lanka to extend full co-operation to this project and also thanked those who helped in past.

"We pray that peace and harmony should return to Sri Lanka in the New Year with a prosperous future," said the ACHC.
