The suspension of sea passage and very limited air travel have impeded Jaffna University students’ travel to Colombo to sit for examinations or to reach Eastern University to which they have been selected from Jaffna peninsula, Prof. N. Shanmugalingan, Vice-chancellor of Jaffna University said. The VC has requested Moratuwa University VC and the Eastern University VC to help make alternative arrangements, Jaffna University administration sources said.
Students who had applied to follow educational courses in Moratuwa University were to sit for an examination in Colombo and the students are unable to appear for the examination due to the suspension of sea passage and limited air travel. Jaffna University VC has requested Moratuwa University VC to help conduct the examination in Jaffna. Similar request has been extended to Eastern University VC to postpone the selection examination for the students appearing from Jaffna peninsula. More than a hundred students in Jaffna peninsula have qualified to appear for the selection examination of Eastern University.
