"Judicial investigation should be held into the killings of innocent Tamils
at Kanchirankuda in Ampara district and at Abeyapura in Trincomalee and
culprits should be brought to book without delay," said the Humanitarian
Agencies Consortium in Killinochchi in memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister and Head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM), Saturday.
In Killinochchi hundreds of people demonstrated forcing the authorities to
close the A 9 highway for three hours, sources said. Later a
delegation of officials of the Humanitarian Agencies Forum handed over the
memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister and the head of SLMM to the
Killinochchi Government Agent Mr.A.Rasanayagam. Representatives of the Mullaitivu People’s Forum and Students Organization
also handed over a memorandum to the head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring
Mission in Killinochchi Saturday afternoon condemning the killing of innocent
Tamils at Kanchirankuda in Ampara district by STF Commandos and in
Trincomalee by police and home guards, sources said.
