Tenth anniversary of Charles Anthony brigade observed in Jaffna

The tenth anniversary celebration of the formation of Charles Anthony special brigade of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam was held at the Jaffna university auditorium Wednesday evening with the release of a book named “ Nerupatru Neechalil,” which is a documentation of achievements made by the special brigade in the war front, sources said.
During the last ten years, the Charles Anthony special brigade lost 14 commanders and 1056 fighters. The special brigade had met more than seventy-five battles with the motto ‘Do or Die,’ said one of the commanders of the Charles Anthony brigade, Lt.Col. Amuthab, addressing the event.
LTTE Jaffna district political head Mr.Ilamparuthi, Thamileelam Arts and Culture Department head, Poet Puthuvai Ratnathurai, Jaffna University Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohanadas, Kalaikon and Commander Lawrence are seen at the event.At the commencement of the event, Lt. Col.Amuthab lit the flame of sacrifice and Deputy Commander, Lt.Col. Pallavan, hoisted the Thamileelam national flag, sources said.
The mother of LTTE martyr Lt. Col. Justin lit the flame of sacrifice in front of the photograph of Lt.Seelan (alias Charles Anthony), which was garlanded by the mother of LTTE martyr, Major Sarangan, sources said.
Lt. Col. Amuthab presided over the event. Lt. Col. Lawrence made the welcome speech and LTTE’s Jaffna district political head, Mr.C.Ilamparuthi, delivered the keynote address. Mr.Kalaikon delivered the book release address and the LTTE’s Arts and Culture Department head, Mr.Puthuvai Ratnathurai, and Professor S.Krishnarajah of the Jaffna University delivered appreciations of the book, sources said.

Jaffna University Vice Chancellor, Professor C.Mohanadas, parliamentarians Mr.M.K.Sivajilingam and Mr. Mavai Senathirajah, and several leading citizens of the area also participated.
