Police interrogates Thiraikerni community leader

Following the news stories from Thiraikerni related to the
finding of human remains near the Periyathambiran Temple, Sri Lanka Police summoned Sinnathambi Karthigesu, 46, President of the
Village Development Council, for inquiries, sources said.
The Head of the Police Intelligence from Akkaraipattu Police
station visited the area where the remains were discovered
and took Mr.Karthigesu to Akkaraipattu station Tuesday, residents of
Thiraikerni said. Further on Wednesday, Police officers visited the site again and took two more Thirukerni residents who were involved in the Shramadana
activity to the Police station to obtain additional statements, sources said. Amparai district parliamentarian, Ariyanayagam Chandra Nehru has protested to the Police Department for harassing the village
residents and leaders by summoning them to the police station and
forcing them to provide statements, sources close to the parliamentarian said.
