Computers destined for Jaffna re-routed to Polannaruwa

The Ministry of Education has re-routed computers earmarked for the Jaffna Technical College to its counterpart in Pollannaruwa in the North Central Province, said sources in the Ministry of Higher Education. Fifteen computers were purchased by the Ministry of Higher Education because of the persistent demands made by the Jaffna Technical College for these instruments.

Sources said the Ministry of Higher Education was re-routing the computers because the United Nations Development Programme had pledged to assist the Jaffna Technical College through a separate scheme of financing.

Parliamentarians from the north and east have been complaining of equipment and financial resources destined to the north and east to other parts of the Island.
