Three Muslims killed in Kinniya

Unknown persons killed three Muslim farmers in Nadu Ootru in Kinniya division in Trincomalee district. Fellow farmers found their bodies Saturday morning in paddy fields with injuries said to have been caused by pointed weapons and reported the incident to the security forces. Nadu Ootru village is in the government controlled area, police said.

According to investigations carried so far, the three dead farmers on the night of Friday had been guarding their rain-fed paddy crops from wild animals, police said.

More soldiers and police have been deployed in Kinniya and its suburbs and strengthened the security of the villages, police said.

A special police team has been sent to the site to conduct investigation, Trincomalee police said.
