The Sri Lankan President convened an emergency meeting of the Security Council with the service commanders, intelligence chiefs and the deputy minister of defence to review the security situation in Colombo in the aftermath of the Maradana bomb.
Meanwhile the Sri Lankan Police claimed that the explosive laden mini-bus which blew up this afternoon near downtown Colombo belongs to a Muslim person in the town of Eravur, 15 kilometers south of Batticaloa town. The Police is yet to positively determine who was driving the vehicle when it was blown up and where it had parked in Colombo. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) blamed the Liberation Tigers for the explosion saying that the suicide driver was a sure indication of their modus operandi.
