International Women's Day observed in Vanni - radio

The Voice of Tigers (VoT) said in its nights broadcast today that the Women's wing of the Liberation Tigers observed the International Women's Day today in all the administrative divisions in Vanni.

The Radio said that several meetings were also held to rally the women in those areas.

In a special message to mark the International Women's Day, the Women's Wing of the Liberation Tigers said that "we have to struggle to advance the position of being a woman to one that can meet challenges."

The Radio also said that arrangements are being made to commemorate the death of Annai Poopathy in a big way in the Batticaloa district.

Annai Poopathy fasted to death against the atrocities of the Indian Army in Batticaloa on April 19 1988.
