The Tamil Eelam Resurgence Federation (TERF) opened an office at Potpathy in the Jaffna district Friday. The Head of the TERF, Mr. K. Sanjay, declared open the office, sources said.
The Tamil Eelam national flag was hoisted by Mr. Pappa, the head of the sports division of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). Mr. Arsanna, the head of the LTTE’s School of Government, and Moulavi Ibrahim of the Jaffna town mosque lit the ceremonial flame. Mr. Pappa said in his speech that according to the wishes of the national leader, Mr. V. Pirapaharan, the TERF is being formed in all areas of Tamil Eelam and that the Federation would be of great benefit to the people and would involve itself in several aspects. “The LTTE is working with deep confidence in the peace process. The people are also firm in their desire for peace. But like in the past, some anti-peace elements are trying to derail the peace process,” said Mr. Pappa. “We have to adjust the path of our struggle to suit the times and the needs of the people. Our goal is the Tamil people’s normal life and their freedom. Our leader is firm about this.”
