Three policemen killed

The Liberation Tigers attacked the Sri Lankan Police post in Pachchnoor, south of Muthur in the Trincomalee district in the early hours of the morning today killing three Policemen and wounding four said Police sources in the eastern port town.

Several Policemen manning the post at the time of the attack are reported missing they said. Their number was not immediately available.

The Voice of Tigers said this morning that the Liberation Tigers had engaged the security forces at Pachchanoor for several hours after firing mortars on them. The radio said that no further details were available of the attack.

Last night around 9.45 p.m. the Liberation Tigers fired mortars on an SLA camp on the Madawachchi- Mannar road. Two soldiers were wounded in the attack said sources in Vavuniya.

Sources in the main SLA camp on this road at Cheddikulam said that there was a confrontation with the LTTE near the Aandiyapuliankulam army detachment and that one Tiger was killed in the fighting.
