Norwegian Ambassador meets Trinco LTTE leaders

The Norwegian ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Hans Brattskar, Thursday afternoon met with the Trincomalee district military commander of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil
Eelam, Colonel Pathuman, and district political head, Mr.S.Thilak, at the LTTE district political secretariat in Sampoor, which is located in the LTTE-held Muttur east division in Trincomalee district.

The discussion centred on various aspects of the stalled peace process and on the ground situation prevailing in the Trincomalee district, Mr.Thilak told journalists. Norwegian government is prepared to assist the parties concerned to take forward the stalled peace process, thus ensuring lasting peace, Mr. Brattskar said at the discussion, according to sources. According to Mr.Brattskar, Trincomalee district where three communities live could play a vital and constructive role in finding a lasting peace in the country. The discussion between Norwegian ambassador and the LTTE leaders in Trincomalee district was held in a cordial atmosphere was constructive, sources said. This was the first
time Mr. Brattskar met the Trincomalee LTTE top leaders. The ambassador held discussion on Thursday morning with top army officials in Trincomalee and thereafter he went to Muttur by naval gunboat from the Trincomalee dockyard. The Trincomalee head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission, Mr.Kurt Spur, accompanied him to Sampoor, sources said.
