[TamilNet, Sunday, 01 February 2004, 13:14 GMT]
The central working committee of the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), main constituent of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Sunday appointed a seven-member nomination board to select its parliamentary candidates to face a snap general election, said TULF Administrative Secretary and parliamentarian Mr.N.Raviraj.

The TULF central working committee held its meeting Sunday at its headquarters in Colpetty in Colombo under heavy security. It commenced around 10 in the morning and concluded at about 2 p.m.

About 27 members attended the meeting, sources said.

Mr.V. Anandasangaree, TULF President presided. The meeting was conducted in a cordial atmosphere, sources said.

The nomination board comprising President, Secretary General, Senior Vice President, and Joint Treasurers on ex-officio basis and two other members from Amparai and Vavuniya districts was unanimously elected.

Mr.Anandasangaree will head the Nomination Board, TULF sources said.

TULF sources said that several items, which were not discussed at the last meeting of the central working committee held on December 30 last year were taken up for discussion at Sunday meeting.

It was unanimously decided at the meeting to hold another meeting on February 22 to discuss matters related to election of new office bearers of the party, TULF sources said.

Meanwhile, the order on the case instituted by Mr.Anandasangaree against the Secretary General and Senior Vice President of the TULF Messrs R.Sampanthan and Joseph Pararajasingham respectively was put off for February 11 by the Colombo District Judge, legal sources said.

Mr.Anandasangaree earlier obtained an enjoining order from the District Court preventing Mr.Sampanthan and Mr.Joseph Pararajasingham from convening party's central working committee meeting without his prior permission, legal sources said.
