55-Division GOC and his deputy injured

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 55-division, his deputy and a Principle Staff Officer (PSO) have been wounded in the ongoing offensive towards Mankulam in the Vanni.
Brig. Sarath Fonseka, who recently took over as GOC 55-division and his deputy Brig. T.W. Bohran were wounded by a LTTE mortar. Army sources in Vavuniya said that their injuries were not serious. Brig. Sisira Wijeyasooriya, was also wounded last night. He is the PSO to the Overall Operation's Commander (OOC), General Srilal Weeresooriya. There are three SLA divisions, 53, 55 and 56, are currently involved in the 10 month old operation Jayasikurui. Meanwhile, sources in Vavuniya said 6 bodies of the Sri Lankan security personnel killed in yesterdays fighting have been handed over to the SLA today. Unconfirmed reports say, more bodies are expected today.
