Sri Lanka's Post Master General (PMG) Mr.K.A.Senadhira said Saturday that Jaffna district polling cards will be sent from Colombo by air. He made this announcement on his visit to Jaffna Saturday, postal department sources said.
Mr.Senadhira held discussions at the regional office of the postal
department, which is located at Stanley Road in Jaffna town with
postmasters, and subpostmasters of the peninsula regarding the distribution
of polling cards and other related issues. Polling cards will be sent in a special aircraft through a competent airforce
officer to Jaffna. That SLA officer will in turn hand over polling cards to
the postmaster who is functioning in Palaly army headquarters. Jaffna Chief
Post Master will then take charge of the polling cards from Palaly Post master, Mr.Senadhira said. Mr.Senadhira has instructed his Jaffna officials to provide enough security
when transporting polling cards from Palaly to Jaffna town. He further allowed Jaffna postal department officials to recruit
substitutes to deliver polling cards. Later he inspected the newly constructed
main post office building, which has not yet been opened for the use of public,
sources said.
