Clustered booths near SLA camps for Trinco voters - GA

The Trincomalee District Government Agent (GA) and the Returning Officer Mr. Gamini Rodrigo said Saturday that clustered polling booths will be located in the no man zones close to the outer perimeter of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camps at Kattaiparichchan and Mihindupura enabling voters from Liberation Tigers controlled areas of Muttur east and Eachilampathu division in the Trincomalee district to exercise their franchise, sources said.
He further said more buses would be sent to areas controlled by LTTE to provide transport to voters to come and vote in time. He added that no election related violence has been reported in the Trincomalee district since the filing of nominations by ten political parties and six independent groups. On 1st March, Mr. Rodrigo is to meet the lead candidates of the political parties and independent groups contesting the Trincomalee district along with security and police officials regarding arrangements for smooth conduct of polls in the district. The GA added he would be holding weekly meeting with local party and independent group leaders until the polling day of 2nd April.
