UFA, UNF ready to release election manifestos

The two major political parties contesting the forthcoming general election, United National Front (UNF) and the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) are giving final touches to their election manifestos which are expected to released in the next few days, political sources said.
UPFA is to release its election manifesto on Thursday and UNF on Monday, sources said. Opposition Leader and one of the co-organizers of the UPFA Mr.Mahinda Rajapakse said that the false propaganda of the UNF would be exposed once the UPFA manifesto is released. The UPFA manifesto would include the proposal to abolish the executive presidency, proposal to bring changes to
the current proportionate electoral system and a new approach to stabilize
the economy of the country, said Mr.Mahinda Rajapakse. The UNF election manifesto would contain several proposals found in the
2001 manifesto with some amendments, UNP spokesman said.
