Solheim to visit Trincomalee Thursday

Norwegian special peace envoy Mr. Eric Solheim is to arrive in Trincomalee
Thursday evening from Vanni. He is scheduled to hold talks with the
Trincomalee district political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam
(LTTE) Mr.S.Thilak on Friday morning, Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM)
sources said Wednesday.
Talks between Mr.Solheim and Mr.Thilak will be held at the office of the
SLMM in Trincomalee and would focus mainly on problems in Trincomalee
district and in particular the current situation in east, sources said. Mr.Solheim will be having discussions with the General Officer Commanding
(GOC) Trincomalee district Major General Sunil Tennekoon and Navy top
officials during his stay in Trincomalee, SLMM sources said. Mr.Solheim left Jaffna by road to Killinochchi Wednesday evening. He would
hold extensive talks with the LTTE leadership in Killinochchi on Thursday
regarding the northeast situation and especially the east, sources said.
