Norway will not interfere in the internal matters of the Liberation Tigers said Mr. Erik Soheim speaking to the press at the conclusion of his meeting with Mr. S. P Thamilchelvan Thursday in Kilinochchi. “We did not involve ourselves in the discussion between the President and the Prime Minister and exactly in the same manner we will not take any part in the discussion between the LTTE leadership and Mr. Karuna. The first is an internal matter for the south and the second is an internal matter for the northeast”, Mr. Solheim said.
Mr. Solheim met the press briefly after this meeting with Mr. Thamilchelvan, Mr. T. Ramesh, the LTTE’s special commander for the Batticaloa Ampara District, Mr. S. Karikalan and Mr. E Kousalyan, the head of the LTTE political division for the Batticaloa Amparai District. “We discussed three matters. One is the situation in the east – the relationship between the LTTE leadership and Karuna. Second: the need for increased international assistance to the people in the northeast and mechanisms for achieving such aid. Third matter was elections”, he said. “We will not interfere in an internal matter of the LTTE”, he said responding to questions whther he would meet renegade LTTE commander Mr.Karuna.
