TNA concludes election campaign in LTTE held Trinco villages

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) concluded its four-day first phase of campaign in the Liberation Tigers held Muttur east and Eachilampathu villages in Trincomalee district Monday. TNA candidates contesting the Trincomalee electoral district in the forthcoming general election led by their lead candidate and TULF Secretary General Mr.R.Sampanthan began their campaign Friday visiting several remote villages and addressed pocket meetings, sources said.

TNA candidates Friday visited LTTE held Eachchilampathu division and addressed meeting at Verugal Muhathuwaram, Ilankaithurai Muhathuwaram, Mavadichchenai, Poonagar and Muttuchenai villages.

TNA team comprised lead candidate for the Trincomalee district Mr.R.Sampanthan, candidates Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, Mr. S.Gowri Muhunthan and Mr.Satha Shanmuganathan.

The TNA candidates toured Muttur east area Saturday and held meetings at Kattaiparichchan and Soodaikudah.

TNA candidates during their campaign paid homage to LTTE martyrs at the heroes cemetary in Koonitheivu. Thereafter they paid a visit to the headquarters Thamileelam Police located in Sampoor. They met with Trincomalee district Superintendent of Thamileelam Police Mr. Thamilarasan.

Sunday TNA candidates held a house-to-house campaign in the Tamil section of the Muttur town. Tamil families displaced from Muttur town due to recent disturbances between two communities have returned to their own houses and normalcy has returned to their areas, sources said.
