Recommence peace talks, establish NorthEast IA - UNF manifesto

"The future United National Front (UNF) government would recommence the stalled peace talks with minimum delay after the general election and would strive hard to establish an interim administration (IA) in the northeast province as a step towards find a lasting political solution to the ethnic conflict and implement it on the basis of community oriented development," said the United National Front in its election released Monday.
The final draft of the political solution found through peaceful
negotiation will be subjected to a referendum before it is implemented, said in the manifesto. The Muslim community will be allowed to participate as separate entity in
the future peace talks, added in the manifesto titled "UNP Work Programme
for the Nation," sources said. "Our objective is to achieve permanent peace acceptable to all communities based on Oslo Declaration and Tokyo Aid Declaration,"stressed in the UNF manifesto. Speaking to the press at the event of releasing the manifesto the Prime Minister Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe said, "this is not an election propaganda
pamphlet but a complete work programme by the UNP and the constituent
parties of the UNF to build a prosperous nation." "We have stated in the manifesto what we can achieve and what are already in the process of being achieved," said Mr.Wickremesinghe. People should instill in their minds that they would not only deciding the future of a political party, but the future of people, their families and the future of the country, reminded Mr.Wickremasinghe.
