General Secretary of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) Mr. Mavai Senathirajah urged Vavuniya Government Agent K.Ganesh to make arrangements to locate the polling booths near the Sri Lanka Army checkpoint in Omanthai, sources said. Placing polling booths in Omanthai Maha Vidiyalayam would require voters to travel a few kilometers further from the checkpoint and will incur additional delays and logistic, transportation nightmare, Mr.Senathirajah told the GA.
Mavai Senathirajah was joined by Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Vanni candidate J.P.Christopher and District Secretary Moorthy during the Friday morning meeting with GA Ganesh. GA Ganesh assured Mr.Senathirajah that he will bring this request to the notice of the appropriate authorities. Election officials said that 30 polling booths are to be setup at the Omanthai Maha Vidyalayam to facilitate voters from the Mullaitivu district and residents of Vavuniya north.
